Meridan, Miss. – A napping crew member of a Jackson-based ambulance service received a surprise when his ambulance was stolen while he was napping in the back, according to a report.
Zachary Hopson is accused of jumping into the ambulance’s driver’s seat while it was parked at a highway rest stop and driving off, WTOK-TV reports. The napping crew member jumped out of the rig before the ambulance got onto the interstate.
He was not hurt.
Deputies chased the ambulance down the highway at speeds of 80 miles an hour before an officer was able to get in front of the ambulance and slow it down.
Hopson is then accused of running from the scene and into the woods. He was captured a short time later.
His bail was reportedly set at $16,000. Watch the report in the video above.
