MANISTEE COUNTY, Mich. — A semi hauling logs crashed into a North Flight EMS ambulance Saturday afternoon, according to the Manistee County Sheriff’s Office.
It happened at the intersection of 13 Mile road and Healy Lake Road in Springdale Township.
Preliminary investigations show the semi was unable to stop at the intersection and hit the ambulance causing it to overturn.
Deputies say the ambulance was on a non-emergent transport to Traverse City Munson Medical Center, but did have one patient inside who was transferred into a different ambulance.
One medic inside the ambulance was taken back to Munson Healthcare Manistee Hospital for evaluation.
Deputies say after the collision the semi then hit a power pole, but the driver was not hurt.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
The Manistee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Little River Band of Ottawa Indians Tribal Police, Maple Grove Township Fire Department, Bear Lake Township Fire Department, Thompsonville Ambulance and North Flight EMS.
