On Nov. 1, 2019, Paramedics from the Sault Ste. Marie Fire Service – Emergency Medical Services Division once again picked up their razors and showed up to work sporting clean-shaven faces.
As reported by Sootoday.com, Representatives from EMS are donning the clean-shaven look for the start of this year’s Movember Campaign. Over the coming weeks, the clean-shaven look will be replaced with a covered upper lip in many variations and styles.
The goal is to educate our community about men’s health. The campaign focuses on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, as well as mental health and suicide prevention. “Stop men dying too young” is a key slogan in the campaign.
Along with growing moustaches and promoting awareness, members will be raising money to help support the Movember Foundation and this important cause. Last year, over $12,000 was raised in support of the campaign.
Custom epaulettes with the signature stache are new to this year and will be worn for the duration of the campaign.
