DAVENPORT, Iowa — A Medic who breached protocol in giving a patient two doses of ketamine has been placed on one year of probation and ordered to pay a $250 fine by the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH).
Matthew Snell administered the ketamine in June “not in compliance with service protocols or typical standards of practice,” according to IDPH, and falsified the patient care report in relation to the incident.
Snell claimed the patient was being combative, but video and witness accounts contradict his claim, according to The Quad-City Times.
During his probation, Snell will be required to complete classes and put in additional hours to renew his paramedic certification.
