EMTs Settle Overtime Lawsuit for $150K

MICHIGAN —   Livingston County EMTs have reached a settlement with county officials and will receive $150,00 in an overtime lawsuit.

According to the settlement, the county does not admit any wrongdoing in the matter, the Livingston Daily reports.

In April, five Livingston County EMTs sued the county and the County Board of Commissioners for overtime hours not paid.

The EMTs alleged they were working more than 40 hours per week but were not paid for that time.

Later, the lawsuit was expanded to a class-action lawsuit including 51 employees.

Under the settlement agreement, $100,000 will compensate 51 employees for overtime work rendered to the county, and $50,000 is allocated for lawyer fees.

The EMTs will share the $100,000 shares in varying amounts, from $3.67 to more than $5,000, according to Livingston County Administrator Ken Hinton.
