Ambulance Strike Team Activated to Help with Hospital Evacuation

RIDGECREST, Calif. — The ambulance strike team from Hall Ambulance responded to the Ridgecrest Regional Hospital evacuation following a 6.4 magnitude earthquake.

The County of Kern EMS Department requested additional help from Hall Ambulance following the earthquake. Officials quickly deployed the ambulance strike team that is comprised of a disaster support unit, five life support ambulances, two basic life support ambulances, and a paramedic field supervisor unit staffed with six paramedics, one RN and 12 EMTs.

After a 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck Southern California and parts of Nevada on July 4, Ridgecrest Regional Hospital was evacuated for precautionary measures, Fox 11 reports.

The hospital serves three counties in the area. Officials are assessing the damage in the area and say that no one was in surgery at the time of the earthquake.

The strike team is helping to transport patients to regional health facilities.  Hall Ambulance serves 88% of Kern County, California.
