Air Evac Lifeteam Sending 12 Helicopters and 72 Crew To Help With Hurricane Florence

– Air Evac will be sending caregivers to assist under AMR’s FEMA contract.

(O’FALLON, Mo.) – As a Network provider under American Medical Response’s contract with FEMA, Air Evac Lifeteam is responding to the request to provide assistance in anticipation of Hurricane Florence. Air Evac Lifeteam is sending 12 helicopters and 72 crew members.  Crews from the following Air Evac Lifeteam air medical bases have been deployed:

Blytheville, AR; Snellville and Statesboro, GA; Carrollton and Harrisburg, IL; Harlan, Mayfield and West Liberty, KY; Opelousas, LA; St. Louisville, OH; and Parsons and Waynesboro, TN. We anticipate the crews will be on a 7-14-day activation, but that can change as the situation changes. The crews will stay in the area as long as needed. When the crews arrive at their assigned area, they will be working under the guidance of FEMA, state and local EMS agencies.

“We are fortunate to be able to send some of our local assets – including personnel and equipment, to assist the communities in the path of Hurricane Florence,”  said Joe Grygiel, senior director of base operations for Air Evac Lifeteam.

“It is important to know that sending these resources does not affect our day-to-day ability to provide timely medical response for all the communities we serve.”

“When disasters of this magnitude occur, we appreciate the support of all the EMS agencies who come together to work tirelessly on behalf of the affected communities,” said Ted Van Horne, AMR Presdient and CEO.

AMR is FEMA’s prime emergency medical service response provider, AMR has a national agreement with FEMA to provide ground ambulance, air ambulance, paratransit services and non-ambulance EMS personnel to supplement the Federal and Military response to a disaster, an act of terrorism or any other public health emergency.
