— Cooper University Health Care recently announced the expansion of its life-saving air medical transport service to the South Jersey community with the addition of a new helicopter — Cooper 2.
CAMDEN — An expanded air medical transport service will take to the skies in Burlington County to help residents in South Jersey.
Cooper University Health Care announced on Thursday that it was adding a second helicopter — Cooper 2 — which will be based at the Flying W airport in Medford to provide support to the northern half of Cooper’s coverage area. Cooper 1, the health care system’s first helicopter, will be located at the Millville Municipal Airport in Millville, Cumberland County, to provide the southern regions of the state.
Cooper has provided the air transport service to Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem counties since 2010.
“The medical transport helicopters are a crucial part of our emergency medical services continuum,” said Rick Rohrbach, director of Air and Ground Services for Cooper University Health Care. “By expanding our air medical services, we can better serve the community and transport critically injured or ill patients to where they need to go in the least amount of time without delays.”
